Directors Briefing – Fire Protection and Precautions

October 6, 2022

Fire Protection and Precautions

The principal legislation regarding fire precautions in England and Wales is the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO) and the Building Safety Act 2022. Similar requirements apply in Scotland under the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Fire (Scotland) Regulations 2006.

The RRO has been in force since October 2006 and has since been amended by the Fire Safety Act 2021. Further duties are introduced by the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022.
